Simplify your life in 5 ways

Two years ago, I vowed to no longer let stress and chaos rule my life.
At the time, I was the principal of a virtual school undergoing tremendous operational shifts due to the pandemic. Sensations of overwhelm and exhaustion became part of my daily reality.
Then I said no more. No job is worth that.
I made 5 changes to simplify my life that I continue to this day:
🎯 Determined what is ACTUALLY important to me.
I audited what was meaningful, purposeful, and aligned with my goals and health. Anything that was not in alignment was to be eliminated.
🗑️ De-cluttered.
I love books. I used to keep them around me so I could easily access information. However, the same information could have easily been obtained online. So, out they went.
My life felt more organized, structured, and focused once that occurred.
⛔ Learned to say no.
Yes, I disappointed people along the way—friends, family, and co-workers. But I had to.
My time is valuable and an important currency. I budget and protect it as much as I do money.
😞 Removed toxic relationships.
I reduced the amount of negative energy in my life. This included both people AND objects.
I communicated with certain work colleagues less.
I spent less time with certain family and friends.
I unsubscribed and unfollowed certain social media channels and platforms.
I stopped watching/listening to certain shows.
I was very purposeful about who I spent my time with.
⏲️ Developed daily routines.
I have always been a morning person. It's then that I am most productive and creative. Afternoons, I am not.
I protected my personal and work schedules by blocking certain times to maximize my productivity and focus.
Many days feel rather robotic, but this helps my flow.
➡️ How you organize your life during times of chaos and stress can have a big effect on how your body responds and acts.
Simplifying your life can yield amazing benefits. Find what works best for you, and put yourself first!
